Aquaform® Technology
You may have seen the term Aquaform® Technology and wondered what it means. Rather than a single feature, it refers to a combination of material technologies that work together to create a consistently comfortable and high-performance contact lens. The Aquaform lens material includes multiple features designed to support an optimal lens-wearing experience.
When a contact lens does not allow enough oxygen through, small blood vessels in the white of the eye can become more visible as they respond to reduced oxygen levels. Aquaform Technology lenses offer high oxygen transmissibility, improving breathability and helping eyes remain healthy and white.
Another key property is a low modulus. Modulus refers to the flexibility of a contact lens, and a lower modulus means the lens is softer and more flexible, allowing it to adapt more comfortably to the eye.
The molecular structure of Aquaform Technology lens material provides uniform and natural wettability, creating a smooth lens surface. Unlike lenses that rely on surface coatings or added wetting agents that wear off over time, the silicone macromers in Aquaform lenses lock water into the material, helping the lens remain moist even during extended wear.
Lens shape also plays an important role in comfort. Aquaform Technology lenses use an optimized rounded-edge design that reduces interaction with the conjunctiva, helping minimize friction against the inside of the eyelid and improving overall comfort.
Optimized Lens Geometry
Optimised lens geometry is designed to improve stability for patients with astigmatism, who require lenses with different optical powers at specific points that must remain correctly oriented to provide clear vision. CooperVision’s toric lenses use Optimized Ballast Design, also known as Optimized Lens Geometry, to support consistent lens positioning and accurate vision correction.
This multifaceted design supports visual acuity, fit, and overall comfort. The lens geometry and wide ballast band help the lens orient quickly on the eye, allowing for reliable performance and straightforward fitting.
A uniform horizontal ISO thickness further enhances stability and helps maintain a consistent fit across the full range of lens powers.
A larger toric optic zone provides clear vision across varying prescriptions, while a smooth, junction-less surface reduces friction and supports comfort with every blink.
